Fall in Wisconsin is a sight to behold. This time of year our 16 million acres of forests put on a show like nowhere else. Tourists from all over the country visit Wisconsin in the fall just to watch the fall colors. It has become such an attraction that many local businesses depend on tourism. Living in Wisconsin we have access to all the outdoor parks and lakes that are in this great state. While there are plenty of places to catch a glimpse of Mother Nature, here are our favorite places to see fall colors in Wisconsin.

Marinette County’s Waterfall Tour

Marinette County is billed as the Waterfall Capital of Wisconsin and for good reason. Marinette County boasts a series of scenic and easily accessible waterfalls. The tour takes you on a 125-mile loop that allows you to visit all 14 waterfalls. You will also encounter fairytale-like footbridges and picture-perfect picnic areas. Camp, hike, or make it a day trip and drive, whatever you do, you won’t be disappointed. The Pemebonwon, Pike, and Peshtigo Rivers running through pine and hardwood forests make for excellent whitewater adventures, especially in the fall.

Holy Hill National Shrine Of Mary

Located on 435 acres of glorious nature, Holy Hill National Shrine of Mary sits on the highest hill in Southeastern Wisconsin. Because of its location, it offers one of the best views of fall colors in the state. The church offers a 192-foot scenic tower that gives breathtaking panoramic views of the Kettle Moraine area for those willing to brave the 178 stair climb to the top. The tower is open, weather permitting from May – October, Sunday: 1:45 PM – 4:30 PM | Monday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Seven Bridges

The Seven Bridges Hiking Trail at Grant Park in South Milwaukee is maybe one of the best hiking trails in Wisconsin, no matter what time of year you visit! It was constructed during the Great Depression as a WPA project to generate jobs. The pathways are assembled of limestone quarried at the nearby infamous and historic Lannonstone Quarry. The trail leads over seven bridges that take you on a magical tour of Mother Nature in all her glory that ends on the shimmering shores of Lake Michigan. The best time to view the fall colors here is at the end of September and the beginning of October, so plan your trip soon to enjoy some of the best views of fall colors in Wisconsin!

Lake Geneva

From zip-lining to outdoor wine tasting, Lake Geneva offers many amazing outdoor activities in Wisconsin. Fall peak colors at the lake arrive the 4th week of October but there is still plenty to enjoy any time of year. If you are a beer enthusiast, Lake Geneva holds Oktoberfest throughout the month of October where you can taste many of the local flavors. Fall colors abound in this cozy lake-side town. Try taking a stroll around the lake and take in all the fall foliage and abundant wildlife as they prepare for winter. Other places of interest at Lake Geneva include apple picking, llama spotting, and biking on the many wooded trails.

Minocqua

Dubbed Nature’s Original Water Park for its thousands of lakes, rivers, streams, Minocqua offers something for everyone. There are plenty of places for fishing, camping, enjoying the sunset, or just taking a leisurely stroke along the shores of one of the many lakes. The city offers more than 100,000 acres of picture-perfect forests that erupt in a display that will take your breath away. To be clear, we mean mosquito pesticide sprays – not mosquito repelling sprays, i.e., bug spray. Mosquito sprays are good if you have a small infestation or if you need precise targeting for certain areas. These products typically contain a concentrated pesticide. Sprays don’t require premixing or filling like foggers and misters. However, these products are not typically reusable, so they can become pricey if you have to treat your yard more than once.
